The Comox Bighouse is a place where the K’omox First Nation and the Vancouver Island community have gathered to celebrate, to mourn, to be entertained and to learn. The Bighouse is a fixture in the Comox Valley with a rich history, one which is connected to the community and to the people who helped build it. From 1885 to 1951, First Nations People of Canada were not permitted gathering together to hold traditional potlatches, to possess or use their regalia for dancing or singing.
